REQUIREMENTS

Working with oil- or emulsion-based machine tools leads – especially when these have no oil-mist separator – to deposits of parts of the oil mist from machining or forming on the hall ceilings.

As a result, the ceiling not only becomes visually unsightly, but its light- and heat-reflecting function is increasingly restricted too. On top of that, the odour nuisance is considerable, or the smell is at least something you have to get used to.

Since the halls are usually filled with production plant and its peripherals, cleaning the ceiling surfaces is generally exceptionally difficult. A starting point is therefore usually only available when hall areas or parts of them are clear, e.g. because of a machine relocation.

PREVIOUS TECHNOLOGY

In practice, ceilings soiled with oil or emulsion residues have to be laboriously cleaned by hand and with a lot of chemicals, or with high pressure. When cleaning by hand, you have to work overhead at great height with rags. That is extremely strenuous, and the entire cleaning medium – usually water with alkaline cleaner – including the contamination drips unprotected onto the hall floor (and usually onto the cleaning staff too). In addition, the cleaning medium has to be lifted onto the scaffold or the lift platform bucket by bucket.

When cleaning with high pressure, alkaline cleaners are usually added too; because of the high pressure, these are distributed together with the removed contamination in a droplet cloud right across the entire workshop. Of course, this only works if the hall is either empty or the machines and their peripherals are covered accordingly.

OUR SOLUTION

Low-pressure hot-water cleaning offers a cost-effective and efficient solution here, because oily and greasy residues – and thus oil-mist deposits too – can be removed quickly and without residue with our process.

Although you also have to work overhead with our method, the work is significantly more pleasant, because there is no need to scrub by hand; instead the ceiling is simply sprayed off. The actual cleaning is essentially achieved not through the mechanics – the scrubbing or the high pressure – but through the high temperature of up to 95°C.

At the same time, only little water is needed, and this is not distributed in large droplet clouds through the workshop but stays – as with manual cleaning – local. Accordingly, only a fraction of the alkaline cleaner is needed too.
