Thermal disinfection of cooling lubricants

Thermo-EK — disinfect cooling lubricant instead of disposing of it

The Thermo-EK family of devices disinfects cooling lubricants thermally: the cooling lubricant is drawn in a bypass from the tank of the machine tool, pasteurised — i.e. disinfected — and returned germ-free. This extends the service life of the cooling lubricant, cuts the costs of buying new and disposing of old, and reduces machine downtime.

Above all, you can do without biocides — which improves workplace safety and reduces sick leave.

How thermal disinfection works

In a bypass: while your machine tool keeps producing at the front, disinfection happens at the back — with no production loss.

1

Draw in

The cooling lubricant is drawn directly from the tank of the machine tool — in a bypass, while production continues.

2

Disinfect

Inside the device, the cooling lubricant is heated to approx. 65 °C — this does not harm the cooling lubricant, but bacteria and fungi are reliably killed.

3

Return

The disinfected cooling lubricant is returned to the tank of the machine tool; the heat in the return flow is used to preheat the cooling lubricant in the feed flow — this cools the returning fluid and saves energy.

Your benefits

What thermal disinfection delivers in operation.

No biocides

No hazardous biocides — more workplace safety, less sick leave, lower costs.

Longer service life

The cooling lubricant needs changing far less often — its service life increases noticeably.

Lower costs

Lower spending on new cooling lubricant and disposal of old — it pays off quickly.

Less downtime

Disinfection in a bypass — the machine tool keeps running, no production stop.

Mobile use

The device is like a trolley and can be wheeled from machine tool to machine tool — flexible throughout the hall.

Almost 100 % effective

The proteins of bacteria and fungi are destroyed at approx. 60 °C — making it, as a rule, 100 % effective.

Less odour nuisance

Too high a germ load leads to unpleasant odours — it doesn’t have to be that way.

Performance

As a standalone device or as an option in the 1000 SR or 1000 SRE.

Convincing results from the field

In an evaluation across more than 100 customers with 75 different cooling lubricants, all bacteria were killed in 90 % of cases and all fungi in 100 % of cases. You’ll find the figures and the technical background here:
