Trams are in use every day and pick up stubborn contamination in the process. Residues on bogies, oil on couplings, dust on articulated joints or splashes of dirt on underfloor components impair not only the appearance but also the function. With the cleaning systems from ph-cleantec you remove these deposits quickly, thoroughly and gently on the material: directly in the depot and entirely without dismantling.

Why is tram cleaning technically demanding?

Tram running gear has a complex design: exposed cables, seals, sensors and moving joints are sensitive to conventional high-pressure cleaners or aggressive cleaning agents. At the same time, stubborn residues accumulate in urban areas:

  • Brake dust and metal particles
  • Oil mist from hydraulic systems
  • Salt, grit and fine dust
  • Insect remains, leaves and road residues

These contaminants make visual inspections more difficult, hinder the function of mechanical components and increase the maintenance effort.

Cleaning systems from ph-cleantec: ideal for rail vehicles

ph-cleantec has developed a process specially tailored to cleaning sensitive vehicle components. It uses water heated to up to 95 degrees and a low pressure of between 3 and 14 bar to loosen even adhering residues – without endangering the surfaces, seals or electronics.

Benefits at a glance:

  • No removal of components necessary
  • Safe for seals, cables and sensors
  • No chemicals, no solvents
  • Residue-free and environmentally friendly
  • Can be used mobile in the depot
  • Also suitable for narrow gaps and joints

Typical areas of application in tram cleaning

Our customers from transport operators and workshops use the systems specifically where conventional cleaning methods reach their limits:

Bogies and running gear

This is where brake dust, metal abrasion and oil accumulate. With pinpoint water delivery, these residues can be loosened without endangering bearings, couplings or brake lines.

Articulated joints and hydraulic components

These areas are hard to reach and particularly sensitive. Cleaning with hot water at low pressure also reaches narrow gaps without damaging rubber sleeves or sensors.

Underbody and frame structure

Heavy contamination from road dirt, salt and rust particles can hinder visual inspection and make maintenance more difficult. Cleaning improves the view of weld seams and fastening points.

Vehicle interiors (optional)

With the appropriate equipment, door sills, driver’s cabs or technical ducts can also be cleaned, which is particularly useful as part of larger maintenance intervals.
