Cleaning high-gloss polished components

REQUIREMENTS

After engraving, high-gloss polished workpieces have to be grease-free in order to be painted in a subsequent step.

In this case, visible parts had to be cleaned that were integrated into a lift and its control panel.

CONVENTIONAL METHODS

In this specific case it was almost impossible to clean the components, as they were too large for ultrasonic baths or rinse baths; these methods were therefore not financially viable.

Consequently, cleaning was done by hand with cloths. However, scratch-free cleaning was a particular challenge, as even soft cloths left scratch marks.

OUR SOLUTION: A MODIFIED 1000 SRE WITH A SEPARATE RINSING UNIT

ph-cleantec recommended a modified 1000 SRE with a separate rinsing unit.

The actual cleaning is done with alkaline cleaning agent and deionised water. The addition of alkaline cleaning agent takes the edge off the aggressiveness of the deionised water; a normal 1000 SRE could therefore be specified instead of a stainless-steel device.

In a second step, the degreased area is rinsed clear with deionised water. This removes residues on the surfaces that could no longer be removed later. This additional rinsing step thus produces a residue-free surface. The component can then be painted and installed.
