Cleaning milled parts is a decisive step in manufacturing and finishing. On parts produced by milling, turning or other machining processes, residues of oils or greases, but above all of cooling lubricants or cutting oils, often have to be removed. Thorough cleaning not only ensures a better surface quality, but is often also a prerequisite for more efficient further processing.

What has to be considered regularly when cleaning milled parts?

Milled parts are frequently coated with oily, greasy and slippery residues that accumulate during the machining process. These residues can come from various sources:

  • Cooling lubricants and cutting oils: For cooling and lubrication during milling.
  • Chips and dust: Metal chips, dust and other particles that settle on the surfaces.
  • Grease and oil residues: Oils and greases used during machining that lodge on the parts.

These residues have to be removed regularly to avoid corrosion, contamination and impairments in further processing.

Special challenges in cleaning milled parts

Cleaning milled parts poses various special requirements:

  • Degree of contamination: The residues are often stubborn and greasy, which makes thorough cleaning difficult.
  • Material variety: Different materials (e.g. aluminium, steel, stainless steel) react differently to cleaning agents.
  • Complex geometries: Milled parts often have hard-to-reach spots that make thorough cleaning difficult.
  • Environmental protection: The use of environmentally harmful solvents is increasingly restricted, which makes alternative cleaning methods necessary.

How are milled parts cleaned today and what does ph-cleantec do differently?

When cleaning milled parts, chemical cleaning agents, ultrasonic cleaning or manual cleaning processes are mostly used today. However, these methods are often time-consuming, expensive and burdensome for the environment. In addition, there is the danger that residues are not removed completely, which can impair the quality of the parts.

In contrast, the innovative cleaning units from ph-cleantec GmbH often enable a faster, easier, more environmentally friendly and, in many cases, also more cost-efficient cleaning of milled parts.

Our units work with low pressure (7.5 or 14 bar), but with high temperatures: the low pressure is entirely sufficient to loosen and carry away contamination, but at the same time only minimal resources are needed as a result. The high cleaning effect, on the other hand, comes from the high temperatures of up to 95°C, with which oils and greases can be loosened ideally. Through this special combination, the ph-cleantec units are particularly fast, particularly efficient, and particularly resource-saving or cost-effective. Because no or only minimal chemicals are used – at most an alkaline cleaner in low dilution is added – you not only save money, but the units are also particularly environmentally friendly and health-friendly.

The most important benefits of our units

Our units are ideal especially for cleaning smaller batches and with complex surfaces. The benefits of our units can be summarised as follows:

  • Fast and efficient: Short cleaning times with optimal results.
  • Environmentally friendly: Use of environmentally friendly cleaning media and minimal water consumption.
  • Cost-saving: Less cleaning agent, less energy, lower labour.
  • Versatile: Suitable for parts made of the most varied materials and for complex geometries, and also for cleaning your machine tools with the machine’s own cooling lubricant – see under Cleaning machine tools.
